Environmental Sustainability

At Light & Wonder, we view success as more than delivering great products and services. With a global footprint that spans across six continents, environmental responsibility is a core part of Light & Wonder's operations that drives our commitment to being a good corporate steward of the environment.  

Environmental sustainability and conservation are instilled in each business process and function across the company globally as an integral part of our operations. In doing this, we create a more sustainable future, better protect our planet and reduce our carbon footprint while creating value for our stakeholders, our customers and the communities in which we work and live. 

Leading by example, we draw attention to the preservation of natural resources, operating in line with all the requirements of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001 guidelines, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG’s) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Additionally, Energy Management Policies for global office locations to maximize LEED Certified office spaces and energy efficient building practices are in place. 

Our facilities comply with all jurisdictional environmental regulations, and many take further action to reduce our carbon footprint and impact on the environment. Within six years, the Company reduced gas usage by 27%, in four years reduced water usage by 44%, and has established a goal to reduce landfill waste by 10% by 2023. 

Our sustainability efforts have been recognized as the recipient of the 2018 Communitas Award for Global Sustainability Initiatives to include Ethical Environmental Responsibility and Green Initiatives. The Company also won the 2021 Sustainable Business award at the International Gaming Awards for global accomplishments in waste and energy reductions, as well as our work to support employees during COVID-19 including the ongoing Employee Assistance Fund program. 

Light & Wonder continually invests in solutions and resources to maximize energy efficiency methods, waste management practices, recycling efforts, the reduction of CO2 and initiatives that support clean, healthy and sustainable communities. Some of these efforts include: 

• L&W global headquarters in Las Vegas started a water and waste conservation initiative by giving employees reusable water bottles and coffee mugs. The Company eliminated 73,820 water bottles and 41,000 coffee cups worth of waste in just two months of launching the program. 
• The L&W office in Athens, Greece participates in the Green Office Program, which recycles plastic cups, coffee packets, beans, and eco-friendly cleaning materials.
• L&W offices in India removed plastic utensils from their offices and replaced them with metal which can be washed to reduce landfill waste.
